A simple test: open a nearby window an inch while the downdraft runs on high. If suction improves noticeably, the appliance is not the problem—make-up air is. Blower Motor Failure
A blower motor that hums but does not spin, trips a thermal overload repeatedly, or runs only at one intermittent speed is usually failing.
